Decent server, quick delivery

I ordered an Unmanaged VPS. It provisioned within an hour, which was great. Performance is acceptable for my needs. The price was fair. Support answered a quick question I had about IPv6 configuration pretty fast. No major issues.

Server was easy to get going

Got myself a Linux VPS from eVPS last month. It was pretty easy to get it set up, which was nice since I'm not super techy. Everything worked out fine, and I had my site running quickly. No complaints about the speed or anything. They got it online fast. Good deal.

Good performance, some setup quirks

I purchased an NVMe KVM VPS from eVPS a few weeks ago for a development project. The server performance has been quite solid, especially for the price. The 1Gbps uplink felt fast and setting up my environment was quick once I got past the initial OS install. I appreciated that DDoS protection was included by default. However, I did run into a minor issue with the custom ISO upload feature; it took a bit of fiddling to get my preferred OS installed, which wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. Support eventually helped, but it added an extra day to my setup time. Overall, it's a good value, but the onboarding could be smoother for custom configurations.

Thinking of moving my stuff from DigitalOcean. How does eVPS compare performance-wise, especially for KVM NVMe?

N Nina 2 months ago
For pure raw CPU and disk speed, eVPS is often better value than DO, especially with NVMe. You're giving up some of the DO ecosystem though.

I switched from Vultr to eVPS for a couple of projects. The NVMe performance feels snappier, and it's definitely cheaper, especially if you pay annually. Support isn't as quick as Vultr sometimes, but still good.

Hey, thinking about grabbing one of these VPS but worried about latency from the US. Anyone in the states using eVPS, and how's your ping to their servers?

R Raj Kaur 2 months ago
I'm in California and use their Frankfurt location. It's not lightning fast, obviously, but totally usable for my dev stuff. Around 150-180ms.

Yeah, I'm on the East Coast and ping to their Netherlands datacenter is usually pretty stable, around 100-120ms. Depends a lot on your own ISP and location though.

Is the DDoS protection actually any good? Or is it like basic protection that gets overwhelmed easily?

I've had a few small attacks on my game server, and it handled them fine. Never noticed any downtime. For the price, it's pretty solid.

It's included for free, so don't expect enterprise-level stuff, but it's definitely better than nothing. Blocks most common low-level garbage.

Saw something about a 3 EUR VPS plan. Is that like a limited-time thing or can you actually get that all the time?

B Brett 2 months ago
It's usually a specific entry-level plan, sometimes they have it, sometimes it's a promo. Check their site, it usually lists if it's available.

That's often a recurring deal for their smallest config. Great for testing things out before committing to something bigger.

Can you actually install Windows on these? I mostly see Linux mentioned everywhere.

M Megan 3 months ago
Yeah, they offer Windows Server licenses as an add-on, or you can upload your own custom ISO if you want to install something specific.

I'm running a Windows instance for a remote desktop. You just pick the Windows OS during setup or use the custom ISO feature.
